Mathematical Exploration Academics
The UCF Department of Mathematics is comprised of a balanced blend of research faculty and teaching faculty, serving all students at UCF for their mathematical education. With their effort, the department’s programs offer students opportunities to concentrate their studies not only in foundational mathematics but also in a number of areas of interdisciplinary mathematics. This provides students with the ability to focus their study on areas of particular interest. Students can select from six tracks: General Mathematics, Mathematical Biology, Mathematical Economics, Computational Track, Engineering/Physics track, and Mathematical Data Analysis track. For graduate program, the department offers the Master program in Mathematics since Spring 1971, the PhD program in Mathematics since Fall 1993, and the Graduate Certificates in Mathematical Sciences since Fall 2009.
The department also provide outreach programs with local communities to inspire young generation to explore mathematics. For examples, the Central Florida Math Circle provides enrichment activities with middle school students. The Math Knights program motivates high school students to attend American Mathematical Competitions Series (AMCs) by improving their problem-solving skills.
