Dr. Angela Vergara is a Teaching Faculty in the Department of Sociology at the University of Central Florida, where she serves as the Undergraduate Director of Sociology and Social Sciences and the Director of the Spatial Sociology GeoBus Mobile Lab. A passionate advocate for STEM education and community outreach, Dr. Vergara is committed to making science education accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Her work bridges cutting-edge technology with community engagement, offering interactive and hands-on experiences that inspire curiosity and foster connections between STEM and the social sciences. Through the Spatial Sociology GeoBus Mobile Lab, Dr. Vergara delivers immersive learning opportunities that empower participants to explore the intersections of science and society, promoting equitable access to education and the transformative power of knowledge.
Elise Lorenzo is a PhD student in the UCF Department of Sociology and College of Sciences. Elise is the Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Spatial Sociology GeoBus Mobile Lab. She has worked with youth scientists over the past 6 years at UCF in education and outreach efforts.
